Project leader Esther Sergeant introduced the program. El Cerrito's Police and Fire Department
presented the colors. The Blue Star Memorial Marker Program was started in 1945 by the National Garden Clubs, Inc. to honor the men & women serving in our Armed Forces. Additional history can be found on-line - search: Blue Star Memorial Marker.
